MIGRATION SERVICE

PORT ON DEMAND MIGRATION

IN2FAB's design migration services are the fastest way to translate existing schematic and layout databases between processes and foundries.  Combining OSIRIS migration technology with years of experience, IN2FAB's engineers can plan, manage and execute migration of circuits in a fraction of the time taken for redesign.  IN2FAB has delivered hundreds of migrated designs in a wide range of technologies and processes from both customer and private foundries with no restriction in design size or complexity.

Design Service

Migration and Design Reuse

Port on demand projects follow a three phase process that allows flexible and efficient processing and reliable delivery of ported silicon.

IN2FAB developed the Port on Demand program to deliver a proven and effective migration service to companies who require rapid migration of analog and mixed signal IP.  Port on Demand has delivered hundreds of circuits in a wide variety of processes and foundries for companies all over the world.  The port on demand facility combines IN2FAB's OSIRIS migration technology with years of engineering experience to deliver ported IP in the shortest schedule at a fixed cost.

Design Feasibility Analysis

The design analysis study produces a detailed description of the three factors of the migration project: design data, source technology and target process . The names and parameters for each source component are identified from the original circuit and mapped to a substitute from the target process technology.  Each component type is described in the feasibility document and differences between the old and new devices highlighted for review.

IN2FAB's migration project analysis delivers a comprehensive review of the source data and the requirements for migration to a new process or foundry.  Once completed, the design analysis provides the basis for cost and schedule for the entire project and delivers a full overview of the migration project.

IN2FAB's Porting Project Analysis provides a comprehensive review of source data and requirements for migration to new processes or foundries, while Design Analysis provides a complete picture of the project's overall cost and schedule.

Project Execution

The circuit is migrated by IN2FAB's project engineers using OSIRIS design migration technology.  Circuits can be migrated directly through Cadence design tools to maintain library structure and all circuit components including parameterized cells and other design objects.  The design is migrated to an agreed schedule to allow engineers to simulate critical sub-circuits early in the cycle using extracted parasitic data.

Schematics are usually processed first and made available at the outset of the project for early simulation.  Layout data is migrated and verified using the design hierarchy to ensure each section of the database is DRC and LVS clean prior to delivery.

Schematic and layout data and library hierarchy in the migrated design will match that of the original.  Layers, components, hierarchy and advanced complex constructs such as Virtuoso XL™ information are transferred as part of the migration, giving a new layout that can easily be edited or sent directly for manufacture.

Design Delivery

Migration and delivery schedules are defined at the outset of the project and IN2FAB's project managers ensure on-time delivery of migrated data.

After full processing, the final database is checked through DRC and LVS verification to the decks supplied by the target foundry.  Sub-sections of the design can be delviered early on a pre-agreed schedule to allow post-layout simulation to be undertaken on the circuit's critical areas.

Final delivery contains a full database with both schematic and layout data migrated to the target process.

Migration services can be provided for both IP blocks and full chips in analog, mixed signal or custom digital technologies.  Circuit design companies can take advantage of new licensing opportunities by making their products available in new foundries or processes to meet customer demand while fabless companies can explore new manufacuring options or provide a second source of supply.
